Register for Conference

2022 Virtual Conference March 14

This year’s PHAA virtual conference will take place from 9am to 5pm on Monday March 14. The fee for members of your family to participate in as many Zoom sessions as they wish is:

  • $5 per family if you register by January 31
  • $10 per family if you register by February 28
  • $15 if you register by March 13
  • $20 on the day of the conference.

The theme of the conference is “Homeschooling:  Taking the Next Step in Times of Uncertainty” After the keynote address at 9am, there will be two simultaneous threads as shown below. The sessions in the Presentation sessions will feature presenters, but there will be time for your questions. The Discussion sessions will feature you!

9am: Keynote Address: Homeschooling:  Taking the Next Step in Times of Uncertainty – Speaker Bonnie Gonzalez

10am: Taking the Next Step –What Does it Mean to You? -- PHAA student speech contest – moderated and judged by Shay Jones (email her to register), PHAA evaluator and college speech teacher. Shay Jones (shay.h.jones@gmail.com)

11am: Ins and outs of the PHAA diploma program – requirements, examples, a chance to get all your questions answered, Dr. Howard Richman, PHAA executive director.

Noon: Utilizing Cyber Resources – Tim Anger and Bonnie Gonzalez

1pm: So You Need to Write a Research Paper – helping students through the process and gaining a vision for the task, Dr. Patti Stoudt, PHAA evaluator and writing instructor.

2pm:  Improving Mental Health at Home:  Games, Humor, Dancing, Hiking, Family Devotions – panel discussion led by Howard Richman, Don Hill, Jesse Richman and Laszlo Pasztor, Jr.  

3pm: Making the Transition to High School at Home have all your questions answered while you gather ideas to figure out your next step, Panel of experienced PHAA mothers led by Patricia Richman. The session will be introduced by PHAA Administrative Assistant Rachel Hill.

4pm – PHAA Annual Membership Meeting – elect a Board Member, consider by-laws changes, discuss how our virtual conference and graduation ceremonies went, chaired by Howard Richman, PHAA executive director. For PHAA members (parents, evaluators and board members) only. Here's the session link. (You can attend this session without registering for the conference.)

10am: What Steps Are Needed to be Ready for College – Susan Richman

11am: Excelsior Webzine – creating online and bringing students together virtually, discussion session especially for students led by Julia Dutill and the Excelsior Staff.

Noon: Developing Leadership Skills – Student panel moderator Susan Richman

1pm: Evaluators Session: Preparing the Common App for your evaluees led by Susan Richman and Audrey Johnson

2pm: AP Courses forming an AP community -- making friends and forming a community with your fellow AP students, discussion session led by Susan Richman with a panel of students in AP Online classes.

3pm – 4:40pm: Advanced Placement Courses from PA Homeschoolers AP Online, presented by Susan Richman and a panel of AP teachers.

After you register, you will be emailed Zoom links to all of the sessions. Share them with your family members.
